[1117] Bhikkhus, whatever bhikkhus in the past, through the destruction of the taints (āsava), realized for themselves with direct knowledge (abhiññā), in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind (cetovimutti) and liberation by wisdom (paññāvimutti), and having entered upon it dwelt therein — all of them did so because of having developed and cultivated these same four bases of psychic power (iddhipāda). Bhikkhus, whatever bhikkhus in the future, through the destruction of the taints, will realize for themselves with direct knowledge, in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind and liberation by wisdom, and having entered upon it will dwell therein — all of them will do so because of having developed and cultivated these same four bases of psychic power. Bhikkhus, whatever bhikkhus at present, through the destruction of the taints, realize for themselves with direct knowledge, in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind and liberation by wisdom, and having entered upon it dwell therein — all of them do so because of having developed and cultivated these same four bases of psychic power.
