[94] 4. Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of eight qualities is not dear to his fellows in the holy life, not agreeable, not respected, and not esteemed. Which eight? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is desirous of gain, desirous of honor, desirous of recognition (anavaññattikāma), one who does not know the proper time, one who does not know moderation, impure, one who speaks much, and one who abuses and reviles his fellows in the holy life. Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of these eight qualities is not dear to his fellows in the holy life, not agreeable, not respected, and not esteemed.

Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is not desirous of gain, not desirous of honor, not desirous of recognition, one who knows the proper time, one who knows moderation, pure, one who does not speak much, and one who does not abuse and revile his fellows in the holy life. Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possessed of these eight qualities is dear to his fellows in the holy life, agreeable, respected, and esteemed.
