[200] Bhikkhus, one possessed of thirty qualities is deposited in hell (niraya) as if brought and placed there. Which thirty? One kills living beings oneself, encourages another in the killing of living beings, and approves of the killing of living beings; one takes what is not given oneself, encourages another in taking what is not given, and approves of taking what is not given; one engages in sexual misconduct oneself, encourages another in sexual misconduct, and approves of sexual misconduct; one speaks falsely oneself, encourages another in false speech, and approves of false speech; one speaks maliciously oneself, encourages another in malicious speech, and approves of malicious speech; one speaks harshly oneself, encourages another in harsh speech, and approves of harsh speech; one indulges in frivolous talk oneself, encourages another in frivolous talk, and approves of frivolous talk; one is covetous oneself, encourages another in covetousness, and approves of covetousness; one has a mind of ill will oneself, encourages another in ill will, and approves of ill will; one holds wrong view oneself, encourages another in wrong view, and approves of wrong view. Bhikkhus, one possessed of these thirty qualities is deposited in hell as if brought and placed there.
