[858] **If you will not grasp in the middle:** the middle is said to be presently arisen form, feeling (vedanā), perception, volitional formations, consciousness. You will not grasp presently arisen formations by way of craving (taṇhā) or by way of view — you will not take them up, not seize them, not cling to them, not delight in them, not welcome them, not become attached to them; you will abandon, dispel, put an end to, and bring to non-existence the delighting, the welcoming, the attachment, the grasping, the clinging, the adherence. Thus: **if you will not grasp in the middle.**
