[127] **"Whatever" (yā pana):** whoever, of whatever sort … **"Bhikkhunī":** … this is the bhikkhunī intended in this sense.
**"With a requisite (parikkhāra) intended for one purpose, designated for another" (aññadatthikena parikkhārena aññuddisikena):** with what was given for the purpose of something else.
**"Belonging to many people" (mahājanikena):** for the purpose of a group,¹ not for the Saṅgha, not for a single bhikkhunī.
**"Should have something else procured in exchange" (aññaṃ cetāpeyya):** setting aside that for the purpose of which it was given, she has something else procured in exchange: in the effort there is an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa); upon obtaining it, it becomes subject to forfeiture (nissaggiya); it must be forfeited to a Saṅgha, or to a group, or to a single bhikkhunī.
"And thus, bhikkhus, it should be forfeited …" — "Venerable ladies, this thing of mine, procured in exchange for something else with a requisite intended for one purpose, designated for another, belonging to many people, is to be forfeited. I forfeit it to the Saṅgha." … "should give …" … "should give (they) …" … "I give it to the lady."
