[103] **"Whatever":** whoever, of whatever sort … . **"Bhikkhunī":** … this is the bhikkhunī intended in this context.
**"Out-of-season robe-cloth" (akālacīvara)** means: when the kaṭhina has not been spread, robe-cloth that has arisen during the eleven months; when the kaṭhina has been spread, robe-cloth that has arisen during the seven months; and robe-cloth given with a specific designation even during the season — this is called out-of-season robe-cloth.
Having determined it, "This is in-season robe-cloth (kālacīvara)," she has it distributed: in the effort there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa); with the acquisition it becomes subject to forfeiture (nissaggiya). It is to be forfeited to the Saṅgha, or to a group, or to a single bhikkhunī. "And thus, bhikkhus, it is to be forfeited: … 'Venerable ladies, this out-of-season robe-cloth of mine, which, having determined it as in-season robe-cloth, I had distributed, is to be forfeited. I forfeit it to the Saṅgha.' … 'should give' … 'should give' … 'I give it to the venerable lady.'"
