[79] **"Those bhikkhunīs"** means: those bhikkhunīs who live in close association (saṃsaṭṭhā).
**"By bhikkhunīs"** means: by other bhikkhunīs. Those who see and those who hear should say to them: "The sisters are indeed living in close association, of bad conduct, of bad report, of evil repute, vexing the Saṅgha of bhikkhunīs, concealing one another's faults. Separate yourselves, noble ladies (ayye)! The Saṅgha praises only seclusion for the sisters." They should be told a second time; they should be told a third time. If they relinquish it, that is good; if they do not relinquish it, there is an offense of wrongdoing (dukkaṭa). If, having heard, they do not speak, there is an offense of wrongdoing.
Those bhikkhunīs should be drawn even into the midst of the Saṅgha and told: "The sisters are indeed living in close association, of bad conduct, of bad report, of evil repute, vexing the Saṅgha of bhikkhunīs, concealing one another's faults. Separate yourselves, noble ladies! The Saṅgha praises only seclusion for the sisters." They should be told a second time; they should be told a third time. If they relinquish it, that is good; if they do not relinquish it, there is an offense of wrongdoing.
