Nandamāṇavakapañhāniddesa

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Cūḷaniddesa · Vol. 30 · Section 305

[305] (Thus asked the Venerable Nanda:) Whatever ascetics and brahmins there are here who declare purity by what is seen and heard, who declare purity by rules and observances (sīlabbata), who declare purity in manifold ways— if you, O sage (muni), say of them that they have not crossed the flood (ogha), then who now, dear sir, in the world of devas and humans has crossed beyond birth and aging? I ask you this, Blessed One; declare it to me.
