[308] **"They speak of purity by virtue and observance (sīlabbata)"**: they speak of, tell of, declare, explain, and express purity (suddhi), purification (visuddhi), complete purity (parisuddhi), release (mutti), liberation (vimutti), and complete release (parimutti) by virtue (sīla); they speak of, tell of, declare, explain, and express purity, purification, complete purity, release, liberation, and complete release by observance (vata); they speak of, tell of, declare, explain, and express purity, purification, complete purity, release, liberation, and complete release by virtue and observance. Therefore it is said, "they speak of purity by virtue and observance."
