[309] **"They speak of purity in many forms"** means: by means of many kinds of auspicious ceremonies (maṅgala) consisting of observances (vatta) and superstitious excitement (kutūhala), they speak of, tell of, declare, explain, and proclaim purity (suddhi), complete purity, thorough purity; release, liberation (vimutti), and complete release. Therefore it is said: "they speak of purity in many forms."
