[320] **"Well proclaimed, O Gotama, is that which is free from acquisitions" (sukittitaṃ Gotama nūpadhīkaṃ).** "Well proclaimed" (sukittitaṃ): well told, well taught, well made known, well established, well disclosed, well analyzed, well made plain, well proclaimed.
"O Gotama, ... that which is free from acquisitions": defilements (kilesa), aggregates (khandhā), and volitional formations (abhisaṅkhārā) are called acquisitions (upadhi). The abandonment of acquisitions, the calming of acquisitions, the relinquishment of acquisitions, the tranquilizing of acquisitions — the deathless (amata), Nibbāna. Thus: "Well proclaimed, O Gotama, is that which is free from acquisitions."
