[329] **"All of that promotes thinking (takka)"** means: all of that promotes thinking, promotes thought (vitakka), promotes intention (saṅkappa); it promotes thoughts of sensual pleasures (kāmavitakka), promotes thoughts of ill will (byāpādavitakka), promotes thoughts of harming (vihiṃsāvitakka); it promotes thoughts about relatives (ñātivitakka), promotes thoughts about one's country (janapadavitakka), promotes thoughts connected with immortality (amaravitakka); it promotes thoughts connected with solicitude for others (parānuddayatāpaṭisaṃyutta-vitakka), promotes thoughts connected with gain, honor, and fame (lābhasakkārasiloka), and promotes thoughts connected with the desire not to be despised (anavaññatti).
