[597] **Gotama is marked by vast wisdom (bhūripaññāṇo)**: Gotama is marked by vast wisdom; he is marked by knowledge (ñāṇa); he has wisdom as his banner (paññādhaja); he has wisdom as his standard (paññāketu); he has wisdom as his dominant influence (paññādhipateyya); he abounds in investigation (vicaya); he abounds in thorough investigation; he abounds in scrutiny; he is of a nature to scrutinize fully; he dwells with things made clear (vibhūtavihārī); he conducts himself in that [wisdom]; he abounds in it; he gives weight to it; he slants toward it; he slopes toward it; he inclines toward it; he is resolved upon it; he has it as his dominant influence.
The banner is the distinguishing mark of a chariot; smoke is the distinguishing mark of fire;
the king is the distinguishing mark of a realm; the husband is the distinguishing mark of a woman.
Even so, Gotama is marked by vast wisdom; he is marked by knowledge; he has wisdom as his banner; he has wisdom as his standard; he has wisdom as his dominant influence; he abounds in investigation; he abounds in thorough investigation; he abounds in scrutiny; he is of a nature to scrutinize fully; he dwells with things made clear; he conducts himself in that [wisdom]; he abounds in it; he gives weight to it; he slants toward it; he slopes toward it; he inclines toward it; he is resolved upon it; he has it as his dominant influence. Therefore, "Gotama is marked by vast wisdom."
