[815] "Having shattered the fetters (saṃyojana)": there are ten fetters — the fetter of sensual lust (kāmarāga), the fetter of repulsion (paṭigha) … the fetter of ignorance (avijjā). "Having shattered the fetters" means: having shattered, having broken apart, having completely broken apart, having abandoned, having dispelled, having eliminated, and having brought the fetters to non-existence — therefore, "having shattered the fetters."
