[438] By way of the faith faculty (saddhindriya) among the four factors of stream-entry (sotāpattiyaṅga), by which twenty modes should the five faculties (indriya) be seen? In the factor of stream-entry that is association with good persons (sappurisasaṃseva), the faith faculty should be seen in the sense of dominance in resolution (adhimokkha); by way of the faith faculty, the energy faculty (viriyindriya) should be seen in the sense of exertion; the mindfulness faculty (satindriya) should be seen in the sense of establishing; the concentration faculty (samādhindriya) should be seen in the sense of non-distraction; the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) should be seen in the sense of seeing. In the factor of stream-entry that is hearing the true Dhamma (saddhammassavana), in the factor of stream-entry that is reasoned attention (yonisomanasikāra), and in the factor of stream-entry that is practice in accordance with the Dhamma (dhammānudhammapaṭipatti), the faith faculty should be seen in the sense of dominance in resolution; by way of the faith faculty, the energy faculty should be seen in the sense of exertion; the mindfulness faculty should be seen in the sense of establishing; the concentration faculty should be seen in the sense of non-distraction; the wisdom faculty should be seen in the sense of seeing. By way of the faith faculty among the four factors of stream-entry, by these twenty modes should the five faculties be seen.
