[513] What is the wishless liberation (appaṇihito vimokkho)? The knowledge (ñāṇa) of the contemplation of impermanence is released from the wish (paṇidhi) [for things] as permanent: thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of suffering (dukkha) is released from the wish [for things] as pleasant: thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of non-self is released from the wish [for things] as self: thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of disenchantment (nibbidā) is released from the wish that is delight (nandi): thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of dispassion (virāga) is released from the wish that is lust: thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of cessation is released from the wish that is origin: thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of relinquishment (paṭinissagga) is released from the wish that is grasping (ādāna): thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of the signless (animitta) is released from the wish that is the sign (nimitta): thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of the wishless is released from all wishes: thus it is wishless liberation. The knowledge of the contemplation of emptiness (suññatā) is released from the wish that is adherence (abhinivesa): thus it is wishless liberation.
