[190] While I was a deva, attended by celestial nymphs (accharā),
remembering my former deed, I recollected the supreme Buddha.
Holding up a tikaṇṇi flower, I made my own mind (citta) serenely confident;
I offered it up to the Buddha,² to Vipassī, the bull among men (narāsabha).
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from this one, since I offered that flower,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of worship of the Buddha (buddhapūjā).
In the seventy-third aeon from this one, there were four³ supreme ones,
endowed with the seven treasures, universal monarchs (cakkavattī) of great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) too,
and the six superknowledges (abhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed the Venerable Tikaṇṇipupphiya Thera spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of Tikaṇṇipupphiya Thera is concluded.
Ninth: the Apadāna of Ekacāriya Thera (189)
[Variant readings recorded in the footnotes of the Siam Raṭṭha edition (Ma. = Burmese edition; Yu. = European/PTS edition):
1. Ma. and Yu.: taṃ dhīraṃ abhivādetvā, "having saluted that steadfast one." The anchor of this note falls in the earlier verses of this apadāna, before the portion contained in the present item, and so is not marked above.
2. Yu.: buddhassa for buddhamhi ("to the Buddha"); the sense is unchanged.
3. Yu.: caturāsuṃ naruttamā, "there were four, supreme among men"; Ma.: caturāsuṃ ramuttamā.]
