[249] When the Lord of the World (lokanātha) had attained final Nibbāna—
Siddhattha, supreme among men—
I obtained a single relic (dhātu)
of the lord of two-footed beings (dipadinda), the Steadfast One (tādī).
Taking that relic of the Buddha,
the Kinsman of the Sun (ādiccabandhu),
I attended upon it for five years,
as though the supreme among men were still present.
In the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from the present,
since I venerated the relic,
I know of no bad destination (duggati):
this is the fruit of tending the relic.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā), have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching has been carried out.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Dhātupūjaka spoke these verses.
