At the supreme Bodhi tree² of the Blessed One Tissa
a half-moon (aḍḍhacanda) was given by me, at that tree sprung from the earth.
In the ninety-second¹ aeon from the present, since I raised that moon aloft,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of worshipping the Bodhi tree.
In the twenty-fifth aeon from the present there was a khattiya named Devala,
a universal monarch (cakkavatti) of great might, endowed with the seven treasures (ratana).
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Aḍḍhacandiya speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Aḍḍhacandiya is concluded.
