On the bank of the river Nammadā the Self-Awakened One (Sayambhū), the Unvanquished, had entered upon concentration (samādhi), serene and unclouded.
Seeing the Fully Awakened One, the Unvanquished, I was confident and glad of mind, and I then venerated him, the Self-Awakened One, with a maghava flower.
Ninety-one eons (kappa) from now it was that I offered that flower in veneration; I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the veneration of the Buddha (buddhapūjā).
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well, and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Maghavapupphiya spoke these verses.
