[361] Then we boarded the ship — the bhikkhu and I, an Ājīvaka;
as the ship was breaking up, the bhikkhu gave me the refuge (saraṇa).
Since, in the thirty-first aeon (kappa) from the present, he gave me the refuge,
I know of no bad destination — such is the fruit of going for refuge (saraṇāgamana).
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) too,
and the six superknowledges (abhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Saraṇāgamaniya the Elder (thera) speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Saraṇāgamaniya is concluded.
