[362] There was a Perfectly Awakened One (sambuddha) named Tissa; at that time he dwelt in the great forest.¹
Having come here from Tusita, I gave almsfood (piṇḍapāta).
Having paid homage to the Perfectly Awakened One named Tissa, of great fame,
and having gladdened my own mind (citta), I went to Tusita.
In the ninety-second aeon (kappa) from now, since I gave that gift then,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the almsfood.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Piṇḍapātika the Elder (thera) spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of Piṇḍapātika the Elder is concluded.
Summary (uddāna)
Saddasaññī, Yavasika, Kiṃsuka and Koraṇḍapupphiya,
Ālambana and Ambayāgu, Puṭaka and Vacchadāyaka,
Saraṇa and Piṇḍapāta — and the verses are exactly forty.
