Formerly I was a deer-hunter, roaming in the wilderness;
I saw the stainless Buddha, gone beyond all dhammas.
Taking a kurañjiya fruit, I gave it to the supreme Buddha —
to the field of merit, the wise one¹ — full of confidence, with my own hands.
In the thirty-first aeon from now, since I then gave that fruit,
I know of no bad destination: this is the fruit of the gift of fruit.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away; all existences (bhava) have been extirpated;
like an elephant that has severed its bonds, I dwell free of taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha!
The three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā) and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Kurañjiyaphaladāyaka Thera spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Kurañjiyaphaladāyaka is concluded.
