[195] Which phenomena (dhammā) are wholesome?
On the occasion when one develops the path (magga) for rebirth in the formless (arūpūpapatti) — when, with the complete transcending of perceptions of form (rūpasaññā), with the passing away of perceptions of resistance (paṭighasaññā), with non-attention to perceptions of diversity (nānattasaññā), and with the abandoning of pleasure … one enters and dwells in the fourth jhāna accompanied by the perception of the sphere of infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) — inferior (hīna) … middling (majjhima) … superior (paṇīta) … with zeal dominant (chandādhipateyya) … with energy dominant (viriyādhipateyya) … with mind dominant (cittādhipateyya) … with investigation dominant (vīmaṃsādhipateyya) … with zeal dominant: inferior … middling … superior … with energy dominant: inferior … middling … superior … with mind dominant: inferior … middling … superior … with investigation dominant: inferior … middling … superior — on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) … These phenomena are wholesome.
