[173] Which phenomena (dhammā) are wholesome? On the occasion when one develops the path for rebirth in the form sphere (rūpūpapatti) and, quite secluded from sensual pleasures … enters and dwells in the first jhāna — of painful practice and quick direct knowledge (dukkhāpaṭipadaṃ khippābhiññaṃ), limited (parittaṃ), with a limited object (parittārammaṇaṃ) — on the earth kasiṇa (paṭhavīkasiṇaṃ), on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) … These phenomena are wholesome.
