[185] Which phenomena (dhammā) are wholesome (kusalā)? On the occasion when one develops the path (magga) for rebirth in the form sphere (rūpūpapatti) — when, not percipient of form internally, one sees forms externally, measureless, and, having mastered them, [is aware:] "I know, I see" — and, quite secluded from sensual pleasures, … one enters and dwells in the first jhāna, limited, with a measureless object: on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) … These phenomena are wholesome.
