[362] Which, on that occasion, is the life faculty (jīvitindriya)? That which is the vitality (āyu) of those immaterial (arūpī) phenomena (dhammā), their persistence (ṭhiti), continuance (yapanā), sustenance (yāpanā), movement (iriyanā), proceeding (vattanā), preservation (pālanā) — life (jīvita), the faculty of life (jīvitindriya) — this, on that occasion, is the life faculty.
