[378] What, on that occasion, is the life faculty (jīvitindriya)? That which, for those immaterial phenomena (arūpī dhammā), is vitality (āyu), persistence (ṭhiti), going on (yapanā), being kept going (yāpanā), movement (iriyanā), proceeding (vattanā), preservation (pālanā), life (jīvita), the life faculty — this, on that occasion, is the life faculty.
