[389] Which, on that occasion, is sustained thought (vicāra)? That which, on that occasion, is pondering (cāra), sustained thought (vicāra), continued pondering (anuvicāra), close pondering (upavicāra), the continuous connecting of the mind (citta) (anusandhanatā), its sustained scrutiny (anupekkhanatā) — this, on that occasion, is sustained thought.
