[282] What on that occasion is sustained thought (vicāra)? That which on that occasion is pondering (cāra), sustained thought (vicāra), continued thought (anuvicāra), close examination (upavicāra), the continuous connection (anusandhanatā) and continued observation (anupekkhanatā) of the mind (citta) — this is the sustained thought there is on that occasion.
