[571] Which form (rūpa) is the eye faculty (cakkhundriya)? That eye which is sensitivity (pasāda) derived from the four primary elements (mahābhūta) … this too is "an empty village" — this is that form which is the eye faculty. Which form is not the eye faculty? The ear base (sotāyatana) … edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra) — this is that form which is not the eye faculty.
