[576] Which is that form which is bodily intimation (kāyaviññatti)?
That which, on the part of one whose mind (citta) is wholesome, or whose mind is unwholesome, or whose mind is indeterminate (abyākata), when advancing or retreating, looking ahead or looking around, bending or extending [the limbs], is the tensing (thambhanā) of the body, the firm tensing, the state of being firmly tensed — the intimation (viññatti), the making known, the state of having been made known — this is that form which is bodily intimation.
Which is that form which is not bodily intimation?
The eye base (cakkhāyatana) … edible food (kabaḷiṅkāro āhāro) — this is that form which is not bodily intimation.
