[677] Which phenomena (dhammā) are of the trainee (sekkha)?
The four unincluded (apariyāpanna) paths (magga) and the three lower fruits of the monkhood (sāmaññaphala) — these phenomena are of the trainee.
Which phenomena are of one beyond training (asekkha)?
The uppermost fruition of Arahantship (arahattaphala) — these phenomena are of one beyond training.
Which phenomena are neither of the trainee nor of one beyond training (nevasekkhanāsekkha)?
Setting aside those phenomena, the remaining wholesome, unwholesome, and indeterminate (abyākata) phenomena — pertaining to the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the form sphere (rūpāvacara), or the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): the aggregate of feeling (vedanākkhandha) … the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha); and all form (rūpa), and the unconditioned element (asaṅkhatā dhātu) — these phenomena are neither of the trainee nor of one beyond training.
