[751] Therein, which is the hindrance of dullness and drowsiness (thīnamiddha-nīvaraṇa)? There is dullness (thīna); there is drowsiness (middha). Therein, which is dullness? That which is indisposition of the mind (citta), unwieldiness, drooping, sagging, sluggishness, being sluggish, the state of sluggishness, dullness, being dull, the state of dullness of the mind — this is called dullness. Therein, which is drowsiness? That which is indisposition of the body, unwieldiness, shrouding, enveloping, blocking up within, drowsiness, sleep, nodding, sleep, sleeping, the state of being asleep — this is called drowsiness.
