[964] Which phenomena (dhammā) are defiled (saṅkiliṭṭha)? The twelve arisings of unwholesome consciousness (akusala-cittuppāda) — these phenomena are defiled. Which phenomena are undefiled (asaṅkiliṭṭha)? The wholesome in the four planes (bhūmi), the resultant (vipāka) in the four planes, the functional indeterminate (kiriyā-abyākata) in the three planes, form, and Nibbāna — these phenomena are undefiled.
