[198] Therein, what is the cessation of suffering (dukkhanirodha)? The abandoning of craving (taṇhā), and of the remaining defilements (kilesa), and of the remaining unwholesome phenomena (dhammā), and of the three wholesome roots (kusalamūla) that are subject to taints (sāsava), and of the remaining wholesome phenomena that are subject to taints — this is called the cessation of suffering.
