[221] Therein, what is the cessation of suffering (dukkhanirodha)? The abandonment (pahāna) of craving (taṇhā), of the remaining defilements (kilesa), of the remaining unwholesome phenomena (dhammā), of the three wholesome roots (kusalamūla) that are subject to taints (sāsava), and of the remaining wholesome phenomena that are subject to taints — this is called the cessation of suffering.
