[268] Therein, what is sorrow (soka)? For one touched by loss of relatives, or touched by loss of wealth, or touched by loss through illness, or touched by loss of virtue, or touched by loss of view; for one beset by one or another loss, touched by one or another painful state (dukkhadhamma): the sorrow, the sorrowing, the sorrowfulness, the inward sorrow, the deep inward sorrow, the burning of the mind, the grief (domanassa), the dart of sorrow — this is called sorrow.
