PaccayākāravibhaṅgasuttantabhājanīyaAbhidhaṁbhājanīya

[322] Therein, what is ignorance (avijjā)? That which is absence of knowledge (aññāṇa), absence of vision … the bar of ignorance (avijjālaṅgī), delusion (moha), the unwholesome root (akusalamūla) — this is called ignorance. Therein, what is the volitional formation (saṅkhāra) associated with ignorance (avijjāsampayutta), with ignorance as condition? That which is volition (cetanā), intending, the state of intending — this is called the volitional formation associated with ignorance, with ignorance as condition. Therein, what is the consciousness (viññāṇa) associated with the volitional formation, with the volitional formation as condition? That which is mind (citta), mentality (mano), mentation (mānasa) … the corresponding mind-consciousness element (tajjā manoviññāṇadhātu) — this is called the consciousness associated with the volitional formation, with the volitional formation as condition. Therein, what is the name (nāma) associated with consciousness, with consciousness as condition? The aggregate of feeling (vedanākkhandha), the aggregate of perception (saññākkhandha), the aggregate of volitional formations (saṅkhārakkhandha) — this is called the name associated with consciousness, with consciousness as condition. As to "with name as condition, contact (phassa) associated with name": therein, what is name? Setting aside contact: the aggregate of feeling, the aggregate of perception, the aggregate of volitional formations, the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha) — this is called name. Therein, what is the contact associated with name, with name as condition? That which is contact, touching, contacting, the state of being in contact — this is called the contact associated with name, with name as condition. … Therefore it is said: "Thus is the origin (samudaya) of this whole mass of suffering (dukkhakkhandha)."
