[636] "Mindful and clearly comprehending (sato sampajāno)": Herein, what is mindfulness (sati)? That which is mindfulness, recollection (anussati), … right mindfulness (sammāsati) — this is called mindfulness. Herein, what is clear comprehension (sampajañña)? That which is wisdom (paññā), understanding, … non-delusion (amoha), investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya), right view (sammādiṭṭhi) — this is called clear comprehension. Thus with this mindfulness and with this clear comprehension he is endowed, … possessed. Therefore he is called "mindful and clearly comprehending."
