[672] "Mindful and clearly comprehending" (sato ca sampajāno): Herein, what is mindfulness (sati)? That which is mindfulness, recollection (anussati), … right mindfulness (sammāsati) — this is called mindfulness. Herein, what is clear comprehension (sampajañña)? That which is wisdom (paññā), understanding (pajānanā), … non-delusion (amoha), investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya), right view (sammādiṭṭhi) — this is called clear comprehension. Thus he is endowed with, … possessed of, this mindfulness and this clear comprehension. Therefore it is said, "mindful and clearly comprehending."
