[77] By way of the onefold division, the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha) is associated with contact (phassa). By way of the twofold division, the aggregate of consciousness: there is that which is with conflict (saraṇa); there is that which is without conflict (araṇa). By way of the threefold division, the aggregate of consciousness: there is that which is associated with pleasant feeling (vedanā); there is that which is associated with painful feeling; there is that which is associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling. … There is that which has an internal object (ārammaṇa); there is that which has an external object; there is that which has an object both internal and external. … Thus is the aggregate of consciousness by way of the tenfold division.
