[1169] Sakavādin: Is aging and death (jarāmaraṇa) a result (vipāka)?
Paravādin: Yes.
S: Is aging and death something to be experienced as pleasant, to be experienced as painful, to be experienced as neither painful nor pleasant; associated with pleasant feeling (vedanā), associated with painful feeling, associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling; associated with contact (phassa), associated with feeling, associated with perception (saññā), associated with volition (cetanā), associated with mind (citta); having an object (sārammaṇa)? Do adverting (āvajjanā), ideation (ābhoga), consideration (samannāhāra), attention (manasikāra), volition, aspiration (patthanā), and resolve (paṇidhi) exist for it?
P: It should not be said so. …
S: Is it not rather that aging and death is not to be experienced as pleasant, not to be experienced as painful, … that it is without an object (anārammaṇa), and that for it there is no adverting … no resolve?
P: Yes.
S: If aging and death is not to be experienced as pleasant, not to be experienced as painful, … if it is without an object, and for it there is no adverting … no resolve, then indeed you should not say, "Aging and death is a result."
