[1524] S. Does one who is hindered abandon the hindrances (nīvaraṇa)?
P. Yes.
S. But was it not said by the Blessed One: "When the mind (citta) is thus concentrated, purified, cleansed, unblemished (anaṅgaṇa), rid of defilements (upakkilesa), grown malleable, wieldy, steady, and attained to imperturbability (āneñjappatta), he directs the mind to the knowledge (ñāṇa) of the destruction of the taints (āsava)" — is there not indeed such a discourse?
P. Yes.
S. Then it should not be said: "One who is hindered abandons the hindrances."
