[1579] [Sakavādī:] Does greed for form (rūparāga) lie latent in the form element (rūpadhātu), and is it included in the form element?
[Paravādī:] Yes.
[Sakavādī:] Does it seek attainment (samāpattesiya), does it seek rebirth (upapattesiya), is it a pleasant abiding in the present life (diṭṭhadhammasukhavihāra)? Is it accompanied by, arisen together with, commingled with, and associated with a mind (citta) that seeks attainment, with a mind that seeks rebirth, with a mind that is a pleasant abiding in the present life — of one arising, of one cessation, of one base, of one object?
[Paravādī:] It should not be said thus. …
[Sakavādī:] Is it not the case that it does not seek attainment, does not seek rebirth, is not a pleasant abiding in the present life; that it is not accompanied by, arisen together with, commingled with, or associated with a mind that seeks attainment, with a mind that seeks rebirth, or with a mind that is a pleasant abiding in the present life — of one arising, of one cessation, of one base, of one object?
[Paravādī:] Yes.
[Sakavādī:] If it does not seek attainment, does not seek rebirth, is not a pleasant abiding in the present life, … nor is it of one object, then truly you should not say: "Greed for form lies latent in the form element, and is included in the form element." …
