[1682] [Sakavādin:] Is lust for form (rūparāga) included (pariyāpanna) in the form element (rūpadhātu)?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[S.] Is lust for form one that seeks attainment (samāpattesiya), one that seeks rebirth (upapattesiya), a pleasant abiding in the present life (diṭṭhadhammasukhavihāra)? Is it accompanied by (sahagata), co-arisen with (sahajāta), mingled with (saṃsaṭṭha), and associated with (sampayutta) a mind (citta) that seeks attainment, a mind that seeks rebirth, a mind that is a pleasant abiding in the present life — of one arising (ekuppāda), of one cessation (ekanirodha), of one basis (ekavatthuka), of one object (ekārammaṇa) with it?
[P.] It should not be said so. …
[S.] Is it not rather that it does not seek attainment, does not seek rebirth, is not a pleasant abiding in the present life, is not with a mind that seeks attainment … of one basis, of one object?
[P.] Yes.
[S.] If it does not seek attainment, does not seek rebirth, is not a pleasant abiding in the present life, is not with a mind that seeks attainment … of one basis, of one object, then indeed, sir, it should not be said: "Lust for form is included in the form element."
