[1788] Sakavādin: Is the Nibbāna element (nibbānadhātu) wholesome (kusala)? Paravādin: Yes. S.: Is it with an object (sārammaṇā)? Is there adverting (āvajjanā) of it … aspiration (paṇidhi)? P.: It should not be said thus. … S.: Is it not the case that it is without an object (anārammaṇā), that there is no adverting of it … aspiration? P.: Yes. S.: If it is without an object, and there is no adverting of it … aspiration, then indeed it should not be said that the Nibbāna element is wholesome.
