[615] S. Speech has been declared by the Blessed One to have thought-conception (vitakka) as its origination (samuṭṭhāna), and one who has attained the first jhāna has thought-conception and discursive thought (vicāra) — does he then have utterance of speech (vacībheda)?

Speech has been declared by the Blessed One to have perception (saññā) as its origination, and one who has attained the third jhāna … the fourth jhāna, the Sphere of Infinity of Space (ākāsānañcāyatana), the Sphere of Infinity of Consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana) … the Sphere of Nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) has perception — does he then have thought-conception and discursive thought?
