[1459] Does one who does not fully understand (parijānāti) the latent tendency of sensual lust (kāmarāgānusaya) and the latent tendency of repulsion (paṭighānusaya) not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya)?
One endowed with the highest path (aggamaggasamaṅgī) does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion, but it is not that he does not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit. Excepting the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons do not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion, and do not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit.
Or rather, does one who does not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion?
One endowed with the path of non-returning (anāgāmimaggasamaṅgī) does not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit, but it is not that he does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion. Excepting the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons do not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit, and do not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion.
Does one who does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion not fully understand the latent tendency of views (diṭṭhānusaya) … the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya)?
