[1475] Whatever person does not fully understand (na parijānāti) the latent tendency to sensual lust (kāmarāgānusaya) from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to repulsion (paṭighānusaya) from that [locus]? The person endowed with the path of non-returning (anāgāmimaggasamaṅgī), in regard to painful feeling (dukkhā vedanā): he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to repulsion therefrom. That same person, in regard to the form element (rūpadhātu), the formless element (arūpadhātu), and what is not included (apariyāpanna): he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust and does not fully understand the latent tendency to repulsion therefrom. Except for the person endowed with the path of non-returning, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust and do not fully understand the latent tendency to repulsion. Or, whatever person does not fully understand the latent tendency to repulsion from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust from that [locus]? The person endowed with the path of non-returning, in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu): he does not fully understand the latent tendency to repulsion therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. That same person, in regard to the form element, the formless element, and what is not included: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to repulsion and does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. Except for the person endowed with the path of non-returning, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to repulsion and do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust. Whatever person does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to conceit (mānānusaya) from that [locus]? The person endowed with the highest path (aggamaggasamaṅgī), in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element, the form element, and the formless element: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to conceit therefrom. That same person, in regard to painful feeling and what is not included: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust and does not fully understand the latent tendency to conceit therefrom. Except for the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust and do not fully understand the latent tendency to conceit. Or, whatever person does not fully understand the latent tendency to conceit from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust from that [locus]? The person endowed with the path of non-returning, in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to conceit therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. That same person, in regard to painful feeling, the form element, the formless element, and what is not included: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to conceit and does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. Except for the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to conceit and do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust. Whatever person does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to views (diṭṭhānusaya) … the latent tendency to doubt (vicikicchānusaya) from that [locus]? The eighth person (aṭṭhamaka), in regard to the three feelings in the sense-sphere element, the form element, and the formless element: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to doubt therefrom. That same person, in regard to what is not included: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust and does not fully understand the latent tendency to doubt therefrom. Except for the person endowed with the path of non-returning and the eighth person, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust and do not fully understand the latent tendency to doubt. Or, whatever person does not fully understand the latent tendency to doubt from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust from that [locus]? The person endowed with the path of non-returning, in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to doubt therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. That same person, in regard to painful feeling, the form element, the formless element, and what is not included: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to doubt and does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. Except for the person endowed with the path of non-returning and the eighth person, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to doubt and do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust. Whatever person does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) from that [locus]? The person endowed with the highest path, in regard to the form element and the formless element: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to lust for existence therefrom. The person endowed with the path of non-returning, in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to lust for existence therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. That same person, in regard to painful feeling, the form element, the formless element, and what is not included: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to lust for existence and does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. Except for the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to lust for existence and do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust. Whatever person does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to ignorance (avijjānusaya) from that [locus]? The person endowed with the highest path, in regard to the three feelings in the sense-sphere element, the form element, and the formless element: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to ignorance therefrom. That same person, in regard to what is not included: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust and does not fully understand the latent tendency to ignorance therefrom. Except for the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust and do not fully understand the latent tendency to ignorance. Or, whatever person does not fully understand the latent tendency to ignorance from whatever [locus], does that person not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust from that [locus]? The person endowed with the path of non-returning, in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to ignorance therefrom, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. That same person, in regard to painful feeling, the form element, the formless element, and what is not included: he does not fully understand the latent tendency to ignorance and does not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust therefrom. Except for the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency to ignorance and do not fully understand the latent tendency to sensual lust.
